freezing issues
Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Thank you for the excellent annual conference of Sat April 24th. I learned so much and thought it was a great value. My question is..I have a gentleman who is freezing up with self feeding both at the bite acceptance and even at the chew. So he loads his fork and then holds it infront of his lips for up to 5-10 mins, all the while holding the previous bite in his mouth/chewing minimally. I was facinated by the idea of using the metronome for stepping (when walking). Can you please offer some suggestions in this case. He takes siniment for his Parkinson's.
Nausea .... Is Parkinson's to blame?
Tuesday, April 20, 2010
Since being diagnosed with PD several years ago, I have had constant daily nausea. It starts first thing in the morning and usually eases up slightly as the day progresses. It can be mild to severe; I never know at night what to expect in the morning. Some days it causes me to gag several times, but I never "throw up". Can this be caused by the Parkinson's or is there something else going on?
Pain in shoulders
Monday, April 19, 2010
Would pain in shoulders come or be made worse by Parkinson's? My housband has had Parkinson for 3 years andhad a fall on his shoulder last summer. He was examinedby aorthopedis doctor and given cortison shots (2) 6 monthsapart for treatment. But it has gotten worse and is inboth shoulders and it is painful for him to reach out tograb things He is treated with carbo/levo and sees hisregular family doctor and a neurologist. Now they are recommending therapy. Does this come from Parkinson's progression or something else?
